Benjamin Visits Correctional Facility to Commemorate New Training Program for Service Dogs

Last week, American Dog Rescue founder Arthur E. Benjamin visited Lakin Correctional Center in West Columbia, West Virginia with paws4people executive director Terry Henry. This dynamic dog-loving duo was able to witness paws4prisons training in action. Through the paws4prisons program, inmates are allowed to train former shelter dogs to become service animals.

The newest paws4people program pairs dogs trained through paws4prisons with active duty and veteran Army service members with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

“Because there are so many homeless dogs, prisoners and military heroes with PTSD, this is a wonderful and efficient opportunity to help all three,” Arthur said. “Just an absolutely wonderful program.”
